Discussion in 'Photography Equipment & Products' started by Nikkoyume, Apr 19, 2016. Picked one of these up today at a yard sale for $6, with a Minolta Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.7 included. The camera had clearly sat for some time unprotected in a garage or something, but while the lens was majorly gunked up on the front element and the body exterior needed some scrubbing, miraculously the interior was absolutely clean. Did a little detail cleaning with some Eclipse and some lens cleaning cloths/q-tips. A few minutes' work and it's almost like new. Does seem like it needs a new mirror bumper and probably new light seals (we'll see when I get the first roll developed), but that's to be expected for an older camera, I suppose. Most shockingly, the batteries appear to be working just fine, metering and shutter speeds seem right. So I loaded a roll and have been playing with it all day. It seems pretty comparable to my Super Program. What a catch! Anyone have any experience with one of these? Used to have 3 X-700 bodies back when I used Minolta a lot. A surprisingly robust mid-priced camera when it came out in 1981. First Minolta to have Programmed mode, TTL flash metering and the top manual focus model before Minolta went AF. Won European 'Camera of the Year' award in 1981. Only negatives about this camera was that Minolta used the cheaper horizontal cloth shutter which only allowed X-sync at 1/60 sec. Also in Manual mode, determining exposure in the viewfinder wasn't as good as the later and lower spec X-500 model. This all electronic camera has surprising low temp performance from my experience. A nice capable camera but I much prefer the earlier XD-7 (the world's first muiti-mode camera) which has a much quieter shutter. ![]() $285.00 Buy It Now or Best Offer Unsold, CAD $35.00 Shipping, Seller: (307) 100%, Location: Calgary, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 80 This listing is for a very nice prime lens set!
